Up at 4.30am to catch the train to take us to Machu Picchu - one of the great railway journeys of the world. And it didn´t disappoint with amazing snow capped mountains, deep ravines & wide open plains on all sides. After relaxing in the hot springs of Aguas Calientes it was early to bed & up again at 4.30am. We survived the perilous, winding bus journey & climbed on foot ever higher just in time to see the sun rise over Machu Picchu mountain.
This place has got to be experienced to be believed - it´s almost other-worldly with a very serene & happy feel. Really magical. We could go on forever about it but you´ve got jobs to go to so we won´t. Ha! The photo says it all (hopefully).
Just when we thought we´d seen it all, the train stewards on our journey home launched into a impromptu fashion show, very seriously catwalking up & down the aisle in a variety of hideous llama based creations....textbook!
